Tokyo

Tokyo is Japan’s capital and the country’s largest city. It is a city full of energy and the latest technology yet in the midst of the one of the world’s busiest and most populated cities, you can still find old traditions and ancient temples and shrines nestles among huge skyscrapers.

Tokyo has something for everyone – from shopping in the mega-malls and speciality shops, to dining at the finest restaurants or little cafes or for the tech-savvy, there’s a whole district dedicated to the latest electronics in the market. Entertainment and the youth culture mecca can be found at Shibuya and Harajuku or enjoy the diverse bars and nightlife at Roppongi.

Or if you prefer a quieter pace, take a stroll through the Imperial gardens, visit the many shrines and markets or relax at a traditional onsen (“natural hot springs”).

Tokyo is also a great base to explore the rest of Japan. Mt Fuji, Kyoto, Osaka to the south and west or Hokkaido to the north are all easily accessible in a couple of hours by shinkansen (“bullet train”).
